Our client is looking for a Controller to join their team in the Medford, MA area. This is an on-site opportunity.

The Controller will manage the finance department providing information, primarily financial in nature, about all company activities that will assist management and other users in making educated financial decisions about the company’s future.

 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee the activities of the finance department for the accurate and timely dissemination of financial management reports including, but not limited to, internal and external monthly financial statements, annual audits, and annual budgets.
  • Contribute to the financial planning process to provide meaningful forward-looking direction and identify key risks/uncertainties and plans for potential mitigation.
  • Manage the financial risks of the company, including oversight of accounting practices.
  • Oversee the activities of the accounts payable function, ensuring the accurate and timely processing of accounts payable, purchase orders, petty cash, employee expense reports, cash control, payroll processing and payroll tax compliance.
  • Oversee the activities of the accounts receivable team to ensure the accurate and timely management of all accounts receivable aging components including billings, cash receipts application, etc.; funding service management, which includes weekly funding reports and customer service; quarter and year-end payroll closing including federal and state reports; and check statistic management.
  • Assure corporate income tax compliance to assure the accurate and timely completion of all corporate income tax returns taking full advantage of favorable tax codes.
  • Assess the company’s financial performance against revenue forecasts and long-term strategy.
  • Represent the company to the financial community, including financial institutions and CPA.
  • Establish and maintain systems and controls that verify the integrity of all systems, processes and data, and enhance the company’s value. Partner with the CRM team as needed to ensure systems, processes and data are being captured and processed accurately.
  • Respond to work assigned by the President with accurate and timely work to facilitate his financial needs.
  • Participate in a variety of special projects and compile a variety of special reports.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management.

 SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Directly supervises 4 employees within the finance department.
  • Indirectly supervises 2 employees within the finance department.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

 QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree (BA) from four-year college or university required
  • 10+ years’ experience in the financial industry
  • 5 or more years’ experience as a Controller
  • Prior experience managing teams
  • Computer skills required: Accounting Software; Inventory Software; Microsoft Office; Payroll Systems. Experience with Salesforce.com and Financial Force desired.
