About the Opportunity

We are partnering with an established healthcare organization in Rutherfordton, NC, to recruit an experienced Registered Nurse (RN). This opportunity is ideal for a compassionate and skilled nurse passionate about providing high-quality maternal and newborn care in a collaborative hospital environment.

The Women's Services unit is a close-knit team providing comprehensive care across Labor & Delivery, Postpartum, and Antepartum services. Nurses have the opportunity to support patients throughout different stages of pregnancy, childbirth, and recovery while working alongside an experienced multidisciplinary healthcare team.

What You’ll Do

• Provide direct nursing care to patients throughout labor, delivery, postpartum recovery, and antepartum hospitalization.
• Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, develop individualized care plans, and monitor patient progress.
• Administer medications and treatments safely, including Pitocin for labor induction and augmentation and magnesium sulfate for preeclampsia or preterm labor.
• Monitor fetal well-being, interpret non-stress tests, and assist with advanced fetal monitoring procedures.
• Provide nursing care for patients recovering from cesarean sections and gynecological procedures.
• Support newborn care, including oxygen therapy, IV medications, phototherapy, feeding assistance, and care of premature infants.
• Assist physicians with obstetric procedures, including intrauterine pressure catheter placement and amnioinfusion.
• Recognize and respond appropriately to maternal and neonatal complications or emergencies.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate safe, effective patient care.
• Educate patients and families on maternal health, newborn care, medications, and discharge instructions.
• Maintain accurate patient documentation and ensure effective communication during shift handoffs.
• Support unit operations, orientation, and training of nursing staff as needed.

• Active North Carolina RN license or a valid multistate compact RN license authorizing practice in North Carolina.
• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited nursing program.
• Minimum of 2 years of Women's Services and Labor & Delivery nursing experience for PRN consideration.
• Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to work independently and respond effectively in high-pressure clinical situations.
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and patient-care skills.

The position calls for the following certifications and training:

• Basic Life Support (BLS)
  Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
  Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
  Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
  Advanced Fetal Monitoring
  STABLE Program
  Handle With Care

Certification currency and completion timelines will be confirmed during the screening process.

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
• Experience in a combined Labor, Delivery, Recovery, and Postpartum (LDRP) environment.
• Experience caring for high-risk obstetric patients and newborns requiring specialized care.
• Ability to manage patients across multiple areas of Women's Services.
