About the Role

HV Talent Group is seeking an experienced Senior Consulting Engineer to provide high-level technical leadership across complex engineering design, product development, manufacturing, testing, and operational initiatives.

This is a highly influential engineering role for a proven technical leader with deep gas turbine design expertise and a track record of taking complex products, components, or systems from concept through validation, testing, and production.

The Senior Consulting Engineer will work across engineering, manufacturing, testing, and operations teams, serving as a trusted technical advisor to leadership while driving engineering best practices, technology strategies, process improvements, and solutions to complex technical challenges.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on technical expert who can lead without relying on direct authority, influence cross-functional stakeholders, and take ownership of significant engineering initiatives.

What You'll Do

Engineering & Technical Leadership

  • Lead the design and development of complex components, systems, technologies, and products.
  • Serve as a technical lead for major engineering and new product initiatives.
  • Lead cross-functional teams through design, development, validation, and production.
  • Own design acceptance, manufacturability, and product validation activities.
  • Translate functional requirements into engineering specifications and design documentation.
  • Develop project scopes addressing complex technical and business challenges.
  • Resolve complex engineering, manufacturing, and operational issues.
  • Provide technical direction and mentorship to engineering teams.

Product Development

  • Lead product and technology development from concept through production.
  • Own complex design and product-development projects.
  • Establish effective product-development strategies and engineering processes.
  • Evaluate and implement emerging technologies, tools, and engineering methods.
  • Develop and implement engineering best practices.
  • Support the introduction of new manufacturing and production methods.
  • Monitor technology and industry trends to identify future opportunities.

Manufacturing & Producibility

  • Address complex manufacturing and producibility challenges.
  • Evaluate designs for manufacturability, reliability, quality, and operational effectiveness.
  • Identify opportunities for cost reduction, efficiency improvements, and quality enhancement.
  • Develop engineering procedures, standards, and standard work.
  • Partner with manufacturing and operations teams to improve processes and product performance.

Testing & Validation

  • Develop and lead product testing and validation strategies.
  • Define appropriate testing methodologies, tools, and scenarios.
  • Oversee testing of complex products and systems.
  • Improve manufacturing test processes and overall testing efficiency.
  • Establish testing standards, guidelines, and best practices.
  • Evaluate new testing technologies and methodologies.
  • Provide technical guidance regarding testing effectiveness, cost, and risk.

Analytical Problem Solving

  • Investigate complex engineering and organizational problems and determine root causes.
  • Develop and evaluate alternative technical solutions.
  • Apply quantitative, statistical, and analytical methods to engineering challenges.
  • Use data to support technical, strategic, and operational decisions.
  • Evaluate technical risk, cost, quality, and business impact.
  • Deliver evidence-based technical recommendations to stakeholders and leadership.

Project Leadership

  • Lead significant technical and engineering projects.
  • Develop project scopes, plans, schedules, budgets, and resource requirements.
  • Estimate project costs and completion timelines.
  • Identify technical and operational risks and develop mitigation plans.
  • Conduct project reviews with engineering teams, sponsors, and stakeholders.
  • Establish project monitoring, reporting, and control processes.
  • Ensure projects remain aligned with technical and business objectives.

Technology Strategy & Continuous Improvement

  • Develop and maintain engineering technology roadmaps.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, quality, cost, and processes.
  • Recommend new technologies, tools, and engineering methods.
  • Establish engineering procedures, standards, and best practices.
  • Support long-term technology and engineering strategy.
  • Champion continuous improvement and technical innovation.

Technical Advising & Influence

  • Serve as a trusted technical resource for engineering teams and leadership.
  • Communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Influence technical decisions through expertise, data, and sound engineering judgment.
  • Provide objective recommendations and challenge assumptions when appropriate.
  • Mentor engineers and contribute to the development of technical capabilities across the organization.

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Materials Science, or a closely related technical field.
  • Approximately 15+ years of relevant engineering experience.
  • Strong gas turbine design experience.
  • Proven experience as a Design Lead, Technical Lead, Project Lead, or similar engineering leadership role.
  • Demonstrated ownership of complex engineering, design, or product-development projects.
  • Strong experience with component and/or system design.
  • Experience taking products or components from concept through design, validation, testing, and production.
  • Experience leading cross-functional engineering teams.
  • Experience solving manufacturing, producibility, reliability, or operational engineering challenges.
  • Strong project-management and organizational capabilities.
  • Advanced analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Ability to influence technical decisions without requiring direct people-management authority.
